| The City of Geneva's Building and Zoning
Department is responsible for issuing building permits for
all types of new construction projects, as well as certain
required maintenance projects. City staff reviews the applications,
blue prints and plats of survey to ensure compliance with local,
state and national standards as recognized by:

Application for Permit - Complete this form for all projects (except new homes, new commercial buildings, and additions over 400 sq. ft.) Your signed application
will usually require additional documentation. See Permit Information Packets & Fees for details.
New Construction and Large Additions - Application for Permit - Complete this form for all new construction projects and additions that are over 400 sq. ft.
Tree Preservation Review may be required if there are any trees larger than 10 inches in diameter on the property or any size tree on adjacent public or private property within approximately 50 feet of the construction project.

If you are considering renovation, repair or painting of buildings built before 1978 federal law requires the compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Program Rule (RRP).
