Construction Hours
Construction and remodeling in Geneva is allowed during the following times:
Monday through Friday: 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Weekends and Holidays: 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Residential Inspections
If you need to schedule a residential inspection, please call at least one day in advance. We will try to accommodate you with the earliest inspection possible.

Commercial Inspections
Scheduling for commercial inspections may take a few days for scheduling. Please call as soon as possible to schedule an inspection. We will try to accommodate you with the earliest inspection possible.

Permit Reviews
The time frame for permit reviews is currently 2 - 3 weeks. Please keep this in mind when submitting your permit and accompanying material.

Required Building Plans
The Building Division asks that you provide 2 sets of plans if you are building within the City and if the plans are larger than 11 x 17 a .PDF is also required.

Required Plat of Survey
The Building Division asks that you provide 2 copies of your plat of survey. Your submittal MUST be of original size.
Please, no reducing or enlarging of your plat of survey.

Identifying on Your Plat of Survey
When submitting your plat of survey, please draw to scale any changes that may occur to your structure. This must be identified on all submittals. In addition, please identify in color the location of new/replacement fencing and concrete replacement.

If you are a homeowner/renter, contractor or excavator planning to dig anytime this year, (e.g. putting up fence or clothes line, planting a garden or shrubbery, building a home addition, etc).

If you are considering renovation, repair or painting of buildings built before 1978 federal law requires the compliance with the EPA's Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Program Rule (RRP).
