| 219-221 W. State Street (constructed
1910 / remodeled 1924) The Grand Theater operated here
until a fire in 1924. Rehabilitation work on the commercial
building removed unsympathetic vertical wood siding and included
masonry cleaning and repair. Removal of inappropriate siding
resulted in a major façade improvement. Utilized Citys
matching façade grant program. Currently houses Shutter Shack
and Vintage Treasures.

219-221 W. State Street before the project started

Once the siding was removed, the project faced some interesting
challeges.
Theres no brick! It turns out the space between the
storefronts was the theater ticket office.

The stone and brick on the upper façade needed to be washed.
This storefront was added when the theater was removed.

The completed project after cleaning the brick and stone,
and the addition of wood panels between the storefronts
and along the bulkheads (beneath the storefronts).

It really makes an improvement to the street!
