The City of Geneva has completed the “City of Geneva Historic Preservation Plan”.

ABOUT THE PLAN
The Historic Preservation Plan is the City’s first preservation plan and recommends goals and priorities for the City’s continuing historic preservation efforts. The plan:
- Speaks about the value of historic preservation
- Documents past preservation efforts
- Identifies historic resources
- Establishes the legal basis for preservation
- Identifies issues & concerns
- Establishes goals & objectives
- Launches an action plan for the next five years
- Documents Community Workshop responses
- Includes a brief history of Geneva
PLANNING PROCESS
The planning process for the drafting of the plan included:
- A community workshop held on September 25, 2007.
- Staff analysis of issues; identification of concerns
- Draft of the plan by Staff including community workshop responses
- Review of the plan by the Historic Preservation Commission
- Posting of the plan on the City’s website for public comment and review
- Community meeting to review the plan on September 2, 2008
- Revision of the plan
- Review by the Committee of the Whole on November 10, 2008
