From time to time, the City of Geneva offers both graduate and undergraduate internship opportunities for students to gain experience working in the public sector.  Internships may become available in the City Administrator’s Office, Administrative Services, Economic Development, Community Development, Public Works, Police and Fire Departments.

Internships may be either paid or unpaid part-time temporary positions, depending on the current budget.  All internship positions will be listed here if they are available.

CHANGE IN REQUIREMENTS - FIREFIGHTER APPLICANTS – CITY OF GENEVA, ILLINOIS

The Fire and Police Commission recently changed the Rules and Regulations for the Physical Ability Testing of all applicants. The changed regulation states:

All applicants for Firefighter shall submit proof of having successfully completed the “Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within the 12 month period prior to the date applications are submitted to the Board.

CPAT testing sites are the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (www.nipsta.org) located in Glenview, IL and the Southwest United Fire Districts (www.sufd.org) located in Darien, IL. Please direct all questions about CPAT and test dates to these organizations. Cost for the CPAT is the responsibility of the applicant.
