After an eight-month trial, the Mayor and City Council have officially adopted the Committee of the Whole system to replace the former Committee system by Ordinance #2000-53 dated July 5, 2000. The Committee of the Whole involves the Mayor and all ten Council members in the deliberation of City business at the Committee level. The previous Committee structure had six Council members on each Committee and met on varying nights of the week.

Under the new format, the Committee of the Whole will continue to meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month for consideration of City business. The meeting Agendas will be structured to prioritize items of major policy direction and citizen interest.

Emergency items and items requiring prompt attention will be scheduled as needed without regard to areas of business. Additional meetings will be scheduled as needed and advertised in local newspapers and posted at City Hall and on the City’s Web site.
