Mental Health Board

Former Chairman John Ford spoke about the Geneva Mental Health Board during the "Officially Speaking"  television show, which appeared on Geneva Broadcast Network in March 2015.


The Mental Health Board is compromised of Geneva residents concerned with the mental health of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental illness or substance abuse.

With the consent of the City Council, seven members are appointed by the Mayor, and each serve a four-year term. Restrictions of this board state that no more than one representative of the City Council may be a member and no member shall be an employee, board member, or individual receiving compensation from the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities or the Illinois Department of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.

The board meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month. For more information, contact chairman John Ford at 847-644-8550.

Grant Funding Available
The Geneva Mental Health Board is now in the process of accepting grant requests for the 2015 fiscal year. Non-profits that provide services to City of Geneva residents with developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance abuse could be eligible to receive funding under this statute.
