Art on FireArt on Fire in Geneva, IL
Art on Fire leaves creative mark on Geneva's fire hydrants. Artists took to the streets putting their creative mark on Geneva fire hydrants as part of the City's "Art on Fire" program. "Art on Fire" was initiated by the City with the assistance from its Cultural Arts Commission to have individuals "adopt" and paint fire hydrants to display creative artwork.

You can take a virtual tour of all our decorated hydrants on our interactive maps: 2013 hydrants, (still decorated) and 2014 hydrants.

Lincoln Highway
Geneva played an important role in connecting the cities of the Fox River Valley to the Lincoln Highway. The Illinois Lincoln Highway is an 179-mile National Scenic Byway that stretches across the state. The City was eager to cater to the newly motoring public by offering well-lit paved streets, one of the first stop and go lights, and a dedicated motorcycle policeman to assist drivers. Geneva’s lively downtown offered travelers something for their every need, including more than a dozen service stations and garages, first class accommodations at Hotel Geneva and numerous restaurants and shops.
