Historic Preservation
100 S. Third Street

The Historic Preservation Commission shall promote the educational, cultural and economic welfare of the public by ensuring the preservation of historic structures that define the history of Geneva.

Historic Preservation strengthens the City's economy by protecting sites, monuments, locations, structures and neighborhoods that are significant to our local history. New construction, redevelopment and adaptive use projects are reviewed for compatibility with the community's historic character in terms of scale, building materials, site design and exterior features.
The Historic Preservation Commission reviews any project that requires a building permit application, and involves exterior alterations to buildings located within the Historic District or individually identified as a landmark property.
