1997-1998: Prairie Green Restoration Project
The 1,103-acre Mill Creek Watershed Preserve was scaled back to 440 acres, with the goal of creating a wetland mitigation bank, fully restoring prairie to pre-agricultural native conditions, expanding floodplain storage, and reducing nutrient/sediment runoff.

In addition, the project was to demonstrate sound water resource protection practices to transfer to other watersheds.

The new Prairie Green Restoration Project was not implemented due to unsuccessful grant funding efforts, and difficulties in achieving agency approval of the plan to combine a wetland mitigation bank and stormwater management facilities.
