Lite BulbDo you know how to choose the right light bulb?

In 2007, Congress passed the Energy Independence and Security Act, which included new efficiency standards for light bulbs. This act began, and is still in the process of eliminating old incandescent bulbs to Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) lights.

Did you know that CFLs produce six times as much light and last 10 times longer? T
oday, in choosing the correct light bulb, here are a few tips:

  • Look for Lumens in selecting a bulb for brightness. The more lumens in a bulb, the brighter it will be. Watts is a measure of the units of power to light a bulb.
  • Look for Color of Light ranging from cool to warm.
  • Cool lights have higher Kelvin temperatures and better for visual tasks because they increase contrast.
  • Warm lights have lower Kelvin temperatures and generally are used for living spaces for a more complimenting appearance.
