Chief Mexin holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Columbia College of Missouri. In 1998 he completed the Criminal Justice Management Program at Aurora University and in 2005 graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Chief Mexin started his employment with the City of Geneva as a Patrol Officer for the Geneva Police Department in 1989. He was a patrolman from 1989 – 1997, and among many other duties, he performed as a Field Training Officer and was a member of the department’s Tactical Response Unit during that time. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and held that position from 1997 – 2002. He was then promoted to the position of Police Services Commander in 2002 which was a role he filled until he was appointed as Chief of Police in 2008.
Chief Mexin is also a U.S. Army veteran who served on active duty from 1982 – 1986 and then served in the active Army Reserves from 1986 – 1991.

VISION STATEMENT
The Geneva Police Department is dedicated to preventing and fighting crime through the utilization of the latest law enforcement practices and technology. Members of our department work in collaboration with our community members, city entities and other public service and protection organizations to preserve the well-being of all residents; young people; seniors; visitors; businesses; employees; property owners; health care entities; elected and appointed officials; staff and government at all levels; civic, religious, and cultural organizations and institutions.
The Geneva Police Department pledges to serve these as well as all others while striving everyday to improve the quality of life for our community. Staying on the forefront of law enforcement technology along with continuing to provide quality educational and informative programs to our community will allow us to accomplish our ultimate objective of providing the community with the highest level of law enforcement services possible.
In order to achieve all that is outlined in this Vision Statement, the Geneva Police Department must attain and retain the confidence, trust and respect of the community we serve at all times. This will be accomplished through a constant and earnest effort from all members of the department to perform their duties with dignity, compassion and professionalism. This exemplary conduct will foster and enhance in the public mind, the fullest realization that the City of Geneva Police Department is an important requisite to the well-being of the community.
