The Geneva Police Department hires from a Police Officer Eligibility List.
The new Eligibility List will be effective from June 18th, 2010 through June 17th, 2012.
 

       
       
     
Salary:   $51,850 starting salary
    Top end salary: $76,128
    ¬ Salary advancement considerations will be given to State certified applicants with police experience
Overtime:   Time and one-half after 8 hours/40 hours per week
    ¬ Double-time on Sundays and holidays
Holidays:   11City holidays and 3 personal holidays
Insurance:   Life Insurance (equal to 100% of annual wages)
    Medical Insurance (several options are available)
    Dental Insurance (several options are available)
Pension:   Geneva Police Pension Fund (includes disability coverage and retirement plan)
Uniform Allowance:   Complete initial uniform issue (minus handgun and soft body armor); then $525 annually
Requisite Training:   Basic Law Enforcement

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be a citizen of the United States.

  2. Not less than 21 years of age at time of application, and under 35 years of age at time of appointment.

  3. Must have a minimum of an Associates Degree, or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, or have successfully completed the State of Illinois Basic Law Enforcement Training course.

  4. Must have a valid driver's license.

  5. Pass the State of Illinois POWER physical fitness test (attached), written examination and oral interview.

  6. Pass a polygraph test, psychological examination, medical examination, drug screening and extensive background investigation AFTER a conditional offer of employment has been extended.

RESIDENCY


POWER TEST INFORMATION

The actual performance requirement for each test is based upon norms for a national population sample.

The applicant must pass every test.

The required performance to pass each test is based upon sex and age (decade).  While the absolute performance is different for the 8 categories, the relative level of effort is identical for each age and sex group.  All recruits are being required to meet the same percentile rank in terms of their respective age/group.  The performance requirement is that level of physical performance that approximate the 40th percentile for each age and sex group.
