Geneva is recognized as the crown jewel of the
beautiful Fox River Valley. It is the county seat of Kane County, which is
currently the fastest growing county in Illinois. Geneva is situated
midway between Aurora and Elgin; approximately 50 miles west of Chicago.
Geneva is part of the Build Illinois High Tech Corridor, and is directly
serviced by the Metra/Union Pacific Railroad.
Geneva has a current population of 21,495
residents. The city's corporate limits encompass nearly 8 1/2 square
miles, including more than 120 miles of streets and highways. Geneva is an
extremely safe and secure community, and consistently maintains one of the
lowest crime rates in the western suburbs.
Although Geneva is primarily a residential
community, it also has a flourishing historic downtown shopping and business
district, as well as a mix of light industry. Geneva is the home of
corporate office headquarters, commercial offices and the Delnor-Community
Hospital campus. There are also a variety of major retail shopping areas
along the Randall Road corridor. The recently completed Geneva Commons
lifestyle center, consisting of more than 80 contemporary upscale stores and
restaurants, is the most notable.
Geneva has 5 public and two church affiliated
elementary schools, two junior high schools and one senior high school. The
total school district enrollment is nearly 6,054 students. Approximately
75 percent of all Geneva High School graduates either have and/or are in the
process of attaining college degrees.
