Garbage / Recycling / Yard Waste
Service Starts In July
The City of Geneva's refuse and recycling services is now being provided by Lakeshore Recycling Systems effective July 1, 2018. This webpage highlights key components of the waste hauler transition. More detailed information about programs and services can be found on the menu bar on this webpage.
Please note, the City's new garbage contract does not apply to residents of the Mill Creek subdivision, which is unincorporated and not located within the City's corporate boundary limits. Please call Kane County regarding garbage questions.
Weekly Pickups & Rates
Garbage collection days will remain on Thursday and Friday. Residents still have the option to use garbage stickers to dispose of their trash or they can use a garbage cart that has a monthly subscription fee.
Garbage rates for stickers, 20-gallon bags and carts also are available online.
After honoring old Advanced Disposal stickers for a 30-day grace period, Lakeshore Recycling now requires residents to use the company's blue stickers only going forward.
The price of stickers has decreased as part of the new vendor contract. A list of retail locations selling garbage stickers is available online.
Ongoing Transition Issues
Most Geneva residents serviced by the City's contract with Lakeshore Recycling received their recycling and (optional) garbage subscription carts in either late June or early July. However, there are still some outstanding issues the company is working to resolve with customers to complete the transition.
Customers have the option to change the size of their recycling or garbage carts for free with Lakeshore through Friday, Aug. 31. Lakeshore has been ordering more carts and should be delivering them to residents soon.
The first Lakeshore bill to garbage cart customers will be issued in mid-August and will cover the months of July-September. Billing will always be quarterly and three months in advance going forward.
Having a problem not listed above. Contact Lakeshore Recycling's customer service team.
If your Advanced carts were not picked up, please contact the company's customer service department via email or by calling 630-587-8282.
The vast majority of Advanced Disposal customers received their last quarterly bill from the company several months ago. However, there are a small number that are on a separate billing cycle that was invoiced for services through August. For these affected customers, Advanced Disposal will be closing their accounts at the end of June and issuing refunds for the remaining two months in the coming weeks. Payments made by credit card with be credited back to the same card. People who paid via check will receive a refund check in the mail.
Customers who have not received a credit by Wednesday, Aug. 1 should contact Advanced Disposal’s customer service department.
