Verizon Wireless Tower

Photosim - website

Welcome to the Verizon Wireless Tower development project page, where you will find documents related to this project. The applicant is requesting a Special Use to allow for a 100-foot monopole tower to be constructed at 1749 S. Randall Road.

Balloon Test

As part of the project review, and for the benefit of surrounding residents and property owners, the applicants conducted a “balloon test” at the site to demonstrate the height of the proposed tower. Due to inclement weather on April 20, and unforeseen events on April 21, the balloon test was executed from 1 to 5 p.m. May 3.

The Geneva Planning & Zoning Commission hosted a public hearing for the request during its meetings on May 27 and June 10. The Commission voted to close the public hearing and defer deliberation on the request to its meeting on Thursday, July 8. Deferment to the July 8 meeting allowed the Commission to process the established record and update the "findings of fact" to help formulate a recommendation to City Council. During the July 8 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, the request to approve the application failed unanimously.

The Planning and Zoning Commission's recommendation was originally planned for final consideration by the City Council. However, the petitioner has withdrawn the application, and the proposal will no longer move forward to the City Council.
