Each household will receive one 35, 65, 95-gallon recycle cart at no cost regardless of the refuse service selected. Additional carts are available at a charge of $1.20 a month. Contact Advanced Disposal at 630-587-8282

All recyclable materials may be mixed together in the recycling cart, and there is no need to separate. Do not place recyclable items in plastic bags. Please leave materials loose inside the cart

Acceptable materials include


  • Aluminum cans, trays and foil (trays and foil must be cleaned)
  • Steel cans and tins
  • Aseptic packaging and Gable Top Containers (milk & juice cartons)
  • Glass bottles and jars - (clear, brown, green); No window glass, auto glass, dinnerware or ceramics.
  • Soda, Water, and flavored beverage bottles (No. 1 clear and green plastic resin)
  • HDPE Milk, water and juice jugs (No. 2 clear plastic resin)
  • HDPE Detergent and fabric softener containers (No. 2 colored plastic resin)
  • PVC Narrow neck containers only (No. 3 plastic resin); such as health & beauty aid products, household cleaners.
  • LDPE grocery containers (No. 4 plastic resin);such as margarine tubs, frozen dessert cups, six-pack rings, etc.
  • PP grocery containers (No. 5 plastic resin);such as yogurt cups, and narrow neck syrup and ketchup bottles.
  • No. 7 plastic resin narrow neck containers only.
  • Plastic buckets, such as kitty litter containers (5-gallon size maximum); no metal handles

Paper Fiber

  • Newspaper, including inserts (remove plastic sleeves)
  • Cardboard (no waxed cardboard)
  • Kraft (brown paper) bags
  • Magazines, catalogs and telephone Books
  • Office, computer, notebook & gift wrap paper (no metal clips, spirals, binders)
  • Chip board (cereal, cake & food mix boxes, gift boxes, shoe boxes, etc.)
  • Carrier stock (soda & beer can carrying cases)
  • Junk mail and envelopes (no plastic cards, stick on labels or unused stamps)
  • Paper back books (no hard cover books)

Please Do Not Include

  • Household batteries (AA, AAA, B, C, D and 9-volt). Bring these to Public Works, 1800 South St., during normal business hours.
  • Any containers not emptied and rinsed clean.
  • Motor oil, insecticide, herbicide or hazardous chemical containers.
  • Plastic bags – instead reuse or return to grocery or department stores.
  • Plastic sheets or film (no plastic sheets, tarps or wrap).
  • Expanded foam and clear polystyrene not accepted per joint advisory from the Illinois Recycling Association, Illinois Department of Commerce & Community Affairs, and Region 5 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
