Outdoor concert season has begun in Geneva, starting Friday, June 22 at Geneva Commons with the grand opening of a new gathering area followed by a Neverly Brothers concert.

Geneva Commons has remodeled its central courtyard space to create a park-like setting perfect for their Annual Summer Concert Series of 11 free shows! This gorgeous new hang out spot features a pergola, fireplace, life-size chessboard, grassy expanses and comfortable seating. Stay tuned because Geneva Commons is planning to fill the space with movie nights, fitness seminars, ice skating and more.
The grand opening of the new gathering area will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. June 22. The event will include fun kid activities and free picnic fare, not to mention the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree. Spend a little time shopping and dining at Geneva Commons and return at 6:30 p.m. for the Neverly Brothers concert. The Neverly Brothers are a rock & roll tribute band from Elvis to the Beatles.

A nice variety of free outdoor performances are scheduled this summer at the beautiful RiverPark, a terraced amphitheater with native plants and art along the Fox River in downtown Geneva. Located at 151 N. River Lane, RiverPark is on the west side of the Fox River just north of State Street (Route 38).
The RiverPark Summer Concert Series of the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 8 with a free performance by Lee Murdock. Noted as a fluent instrumentalist on six and 12-string guitars, Murdock’s musical influences span 15 generations from the 17th century Irish harp music to Scott Joplin guitar rags. He also embraces the blues, freshwater shanties, original songs and ballads. Catch all four of the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission concerts on Sunday evenings in July.

The Geneva Park District Concerts in the Park series will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at RiverPark, starting on July 11 with June’s Got the Cash. This musical tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter, American Country Music icons, will feature comedy bits, historical stories, vintage costumes and songs. No time to pack a picnic? No worries, Deane’s Market & Deli, Graham’s Fine Chocolates & Ice Cream and Penrose Brewing Company will be selling food and beverages on Wednesday evenings.

There is nothing like sitting outside catching the warm summer breeze with live music in good company. Bring a lawn chair or a soft blanket so that you can relax and enjoy this free, family-friendly entertainment through Aug. 1.
