More than 5,200 Geneva customers lost power after ComEd's service to three of Geneva's substations dropped around 4:23 p.m. July 1.
A storm that moved through the area knocked out service for 2,990 customers that are connected to the Western Avenue and Delnor substations. ComEd was able to restore power in 14 minutes.
A burned off jumper on the ComEd system resulted in 2,226 customers losing electricity from the City's Peyton Street substation. Geneva's Public Works Department crews were able to redistribute the electric load to other substations, and service was back online by 5 p.m.
The City of Geneva received several nice compliments from residents thanking Public Works for the quick response given the heat wave over the weekend. You can read them on our "Kudos To City Employees" blog.
