Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

Fourth Street Parking Lot
Update
The north half of the parking lot was completed during the week of July 30. Crews will now shift to the southern section starting Monday, Aug. 6.

Original
Geneva Construction Co. will begin reconstructing the public parking lot at the corner of Fourth and State streets in downtown Geneva Monday, July 30.

The project will be done in two phases, starting with the north half, to minimize the impact for downtown patrons and garbage collection.

After each section of the lot is replaced, the concrete will be allowed to sit for seven days to allow the surface to cure before being opened to traffic.

The work is expected to generate some dust and noise, but crews have been instructed to limit the disruptions when possible. Property owners residing near the parking lot have been notified to remove any plantings or yard fixtures.

For more information about the parking lot project, contact the City's Civil Engineer Elton Orozco at 630-232-1279 or send him an email.
