Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] City Approves Extended Delnor Hospital Construction Hours For One Night

The original item was published from August 30, 2018 2:48 PM to June 1, 2019 12:00 AM

Normally this blog focuses on City construction projects, but we wanted to make west side residents aware of extended construction hours being granted to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital Thursday, Aug. 30.

Delnor Hospital is in the midst of expanding and renovating its Surgical Services Department. This work has created some humidity issues that has forced the hospital to shut down some operating rooms.

The hospital will be doing some emergency work to correct this problem, beginning in the afternoon Aug. 30 and finishing around 11 p.m. The work primarily consists of spraying a vapor barrier to the wall, which is a fairly quiet process. However, the project will require the use of lifts, which will generate noise from the units' motors and safety warnings.

The City's normal weekday construction hours are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., but the hospital has been granted extended hours for one night to prevent any further disruption to the operating rooms.
