With clear weather in the forecast this week, the Third Street road patching project in downtown Geneva has gotten off to a good start.
After the road was closed between Campbell and Fulton streets early Sept. 17, construction crews began removing two sections of damaged concrete. Rebar was then set in place, and new concrete has been poured. The new surface needs seven days to cure before being reopened to traffic.
The last major component of the project is replacing the brick crosswalk at Franklin Street that also was damaged by heaving last winter.
All downtown businesses and sidewalks remain open during construction. Work is expected to be completed by Friday, Oct. 5. The City will provide another status update the week of Sept. 24.
