Third Street from Campbell to Fulton streets reopened to traffic and parking Sept. 25 after construction crews completed a road patching project 10 days ahead of schedule.
The two-block segment in downtown Geneva closed Sept. 17 so the City could replace two sections of roadway and a brick crosswalk near Franklin Street that were damaged after the concrete heaved last winter.
A majority of the project was completed last week as the old concrete was removed, and the new surface was poured and allowed to cure for seven days. Crews finished replacing bricks on the crosswalk and used a street sweeper and hoses to help clean up the area Sept. 25. The rain from last night also helped mitigate the remaining dust.
Parking restrictions that were in place for Second Street from Campbell to Fulton streets as part of the designated detour route will be lifted Sept. 26.
Lane striping on Third Street is scheduled to be completed during the first week of October.
