Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] Some Route 31 Parking Lot Spaces Closed For Utility Project

The original item was published from October 8, 2018 2:39 PM to August 1, 2019 12:00 AM

Fourteen parking spaces in the Route 31 overflow commuter parking lot will be closed for several days starting Tuesday, Oct. 9 as a City contractor will be relocating utilities in the area.

In preparation for the future Union Pacific third main line project in Geneva, the City needs to remove a couple of electric poles that are adjacent to the railroad right-of-way. Boring will be required to move the wires underground.

The 14 parking spaces are needed for construction equipment and are scheduled to be closed through Friday, Oct. 12, weather permitting.

The remainder of the Route 31 daily fee parking lot will remain open during construction.

For more information about the utility project, call the Geneva Public Works Department Electric Division at 630-232-1503. Information about the future third main line project can be found on the City's website.
