Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] Graham's 318 Water Main Connection Project - April 25 Update

The original item was published from April 25, 2019 10:38 AM to April 15, 2020 10:38 AM

Delays in the Graham's 318 Coffeehouse water and sewer main connection project will result in the sidewalk outside the business at 318 S. Third St. being closed until early May.

After making the connection to the storm sewer April 24, crews are performing a water pressure test/chlorination on the water system. Assuming there are no problems with the testing process Thursday and Friday, April 25-26, workers could backfill the area during the week of April 29. Sidewalk and driveway apron concrete would then be poured and need time to cure.

With plenty of rain in the forecast the week of April 29, the revised project schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

The connection is part of an ongoing building addition at Graham's 318. Construction began April 12 and was originally scheduled to be finished April 26.

Signage will remain in place notifying pedestrians that the sidewalk segment remains closed. Traffic lanes in both directions continue to be open, although a few street parking spaces near the business may be closed temporarily during construction.

A map and more information can be found on the project's construction web page.
