Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] City Updates Will Help Residents Navigate Through Road Construction Season

The original item was published from June 10, 2019 3:19 PM to April 15, 2020 10:38 AM

Road construction season has arrived in Geneva with work starting the week of June 10. Yes, we hear the collective groan from the community, but hopefully these short-term inconveniences will prove to have long-term benefits for our local roadways.

Residents wanting to learn more about the City's 2019 Street Improvement Program can visit the City's website to view an interactive map detailing what projects are on tap this year. The map and the "quick links" on the page will provide the latest information about residential road construction projects taking place in Geneva.

Want to subscribe to receive road work alerts? People can visit Notify Me on the City's website. The road construction category is right near the top of the page. City updates typically are sent out on a weekly basis during the road work season.

Besides the local street improvement program, the City also will share updates to subscribers regarding Geneva highway projects from Kane County and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) when information is made available. We already pushed out an update about Kane County's Fabyan Parkway bridge repair project, which is starting in June and anticipated to last seven months.

For more information about residential work projects, call the Geneva Public Works Department at 630-232-1501.
