Demolition on the South Street culvert crossing bridge deck is expected to begin in the coming days after the Geneva City Council approved a construction contract Oct. 7.
The roadway has been closed since Aug. 9 for safety reasons after a
sinkhole was discovered by the City. Engineering work took place during
September.
Once construction gets underway, the sidewalk in the area will be closed during the duration of the project.
The City is anticipating the roadway will be reopened by Wednesday, Nov. 20, weather permitting. While the project will be substantially completed, road striping and other ancillary work will still need to take place.
