Fresh concrete is scheduled to be poured for the new South Street culvert crossing deck on Friday, Oct. 25, weather permitting.
After the demolition of the old bridge deck was completed, construction crews installed bridge framing and steel rebar this week. Following the concrete pour, winter protection will be provided for the weekend due to falling overnight temperatures. The new concrete will need about two weeks to cure and seal.
The City is anticipating the roadway will be reopened by Wednesday, Nov.
20, weather permitting. While the project will be substantially
completed, road striping and other ancillary work will still need to
take place.
South Street between Burgess Road and Southampton Drive has been closed since Aug. 9 for safety reasons after a sinkhole was discovered by the City. Engineering work took place during September, and demolition began Oct. 17.
