Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] South Street Bridge Concrete Pouring Set For Oct. 25

South Street Road Construction
Fresh concrete is scheduled to be poured for the new South Street culvert crossing deck on Friday, Oct. 25, weather permitting.

After the demolition of the old bridge deck was completed, construction crews installed bridge framing and steel rebar this week. Following the concrete pour, winter protection will be provided for the weekend due to falling overnight temperatures. The new concrete will need about two weeks to cure and seal.

The City is anticipating the roadway will be reopened by Wednesday, Nov. 20, weather permitting. While the project will be substantially completed, road striping and other ancillary work will still need to take place.

South Street between Burgess Road and Southampton Drive has been closed since Aug. 9 for safety reasons after a sinkhole was discovered by the City. Engineering work took place during September, and demolition began Oct. 17.
