Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

South Street Road Construction
Following the concrete pouring Oct. 25, road construction crews are scheduled to begin paving the area near the South Street culvert crossing the week of Nov. 4, weather permitting.

Paving is tentatively set to take place Tuesday or Wednesday, Nov. 5 or 6. Crews will then groove the bridge deck Thursday, Nov. 7 and install the guardrail Friday, Nov. 8. The schedule is subject to change based upon weather and subcontractor schedules.

The City is anticipating the roadway will be reopened by Wednesday, Nov. 20, weather permitting. While the project will be substantially completed, road striping and other ancillary work will still need to take place.

South Street between Burgess Road and Southampton Drive has been closed since Aug. 9 for safety reasons after a sinkhole was discovered by the City. Engineering work took place during September, and demolition began Oct. 17.
