More than 400 Geneva west side residents experience a power outage after a tree trimming contractor working in the 2200 block of Gary Lane inadvertently cut a tree branch that dropped onto power lines at 2:19 p m. Nov. 3.
The primary outage area, which impacted the Pepper Valley subdivision, was Rosenfelder Court west to Randall Road and from South Street north to Williamsburg Avenue. More than 440 customers were without power for 76 minutes while an additional 15 residents had service restored in two hours.
About 425 Randall Square subdivision residents experienced an instantaneous bump (less than two seconds) in service.
Geneva's Public Works Department crews were able to isolate the faulted cable and removed the tree from the damaged wires.
As a reminder, residents that experience power outages after-hours and on the weekends should report the issue by calling the Geneva Police Department non-emergency phone number at 630-232-4736. The City's online request tracker and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
