Background
A Geneva family was flaying a kite in an open lot near Meadows and Cheever Avenue when the kite broke and became tangled up in a parkway tree. The family thought the wind would eventually blow the kite out of the tree but to no avail. The father emailed the Geneva Public Works Department if the kite could be rescued whenever crews happened to have a boom truck in the area.
Public Works removed the kite, but another issue pulled crews away before they could return it directly to the family. The kite was left in the Public Works entry lobby, which the family was able to access without fully entering the building.
Email
In email to City staff, the boy's father wrote to the Public Works director, "You and your crews rock!!! Our son feels so bad this happened. It was his birthday weekend. I'll swing by. Thanks again and stay healthy."
