Power Restored

Powering Up

Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more.

This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale power outage updates will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

People looking to report outages to the City should call the Public Works Electric Division at 630-2321503 during normal business hours and the Police Department at 630-232-4736 after-hours, weekends and holidays. The City's online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.

[ARCHIVED] Public Works Department - Electric Feed Issue Resolved

The original item was published from April 28, 2020 2:23 PM to February 1, 2021 12:00 AM

An email to the City's Public Works Department Director:

I wanted to thank your Electric Division for such an excellent response to my house electrical feed problem. Yesterday at about 1 p.m., I called your department and explained that about half of my house power was not functioning.

Within 45 minutes of that call, three Electric Division vehicles arrived at my house. Within 90 minutes of my call, all interior house electric was functioning. Within 21 hours of my call, the 240V power to my A/C (which I don’t need now anyway) was working, and the crew completed the job.

These individuals (including supporting office dispatch staff) were complete professionals, operated with the utmost safety practices, and got my house operating in seamless fashion. I offer my sincere appreciation to you and your staff. Job well done!!!
