Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] Union Pacific To Close Third Street Crossing For Repairs

The original item was published from May 6, 2020 7:23 PM to December 17, 2020 2:03 PM

The Third Street railroad crossing in downtown Geneva will be closed from Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 22 as Union Pacific makes repairs to the train tracks.

Third Street will be closed from Cheever Avenue to Crescent Place. Motorists will be detoured north on Route 31 and west on State Street (Route 38) to reach Third Street. The detour will be reversed for drivers heading southbound.

South Third Street will remain open from State Street to Crescent Place, but drivers will not be able to cross the tracks for two weeks.

Any future project updates will be posted to the City’s website.
