What's Ahead
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the following operations will take place the week of June 8 with the State Street (Route 38) bridge resurfacing project:
-
Continue removal of joints in the pavement and sidewalk;
- Bridge deck patching; and
- Possible pavement patching
One side of the State Street sidewalk will remain closed during working hours, but the other side will be open to pedestrians. Signage will be posted to direct people accordingly.

Two lanes of traffic, one in each direction, will remain open throughout
construction of the bridge that spans the Fox River in downtown Geneva.
The project will be done in two phases with work starting in the
outside lanes and then later shifting to the interior lanes.
Work began in late May and is anticipated to be completed in August, weather permitting.
