Power Outage
Geneva residents serviced by the City's South Street and Keslinger Road substations have experienced several disruptions in power June 9 and 10. The problem has stemmed from weather and tree branches impacting ComEd's service lines.

While the City owns and operates its own eletric utility, ComEd's power lines do run through the City to provide power to our various substations. The service outages, which have been shorter in nature the past 24 hours, have impacted more than 2,400 customers generally living from Williamsburg Avenue to Kaneville Road from Burgess to Peck roads.

The City is rerouting power to other substations to help mitigate the problems on ComEd's equipment and infrastructure problems.

Another 14 customers near Sunset Avenue and Meadows Road experienced a power outage after a large tree went down through a power line and breaking two electric poles at 11:32 p.m. June 9.  The City's Electric Division crew was out overnight performing temporary repairs to restore service June 10. Crews remained on the scene and finished replacing the broken electric poles at 3:15 p.m. June 10.
