About 370 Geneva customers lost power at 3:33 p.m. July 1 after a drop in voltage from a ComEd line running to the City's Western Avenue substation caused a circuit breaker to trip.
The disruption impacted customers within in area south of the Union Pacific Railway tracks to Fabyan Parkway and from Western Avenue to Route 31.
Geneva's Public Works Department patrolled the lines and closed the switches to resolve the problem. The City was able to restore service to 71% of the customers within 27 minutes, and the remaining group was back online by 4:45 p.m. July 1.
