The Geneva Public Works Department is hoping to finish its downtown State Street sanitary sewer replacement project by August, weather permitting.
Geneva began replacing 300 feet of sanitary sewer July 6 on the outside westbound lane on Route 38 from First Street (Route 31) to River Lane. The project has now moved to the pavement restoration phase.
Construction crews are hoping to pour the new concrete Wednesday, July 29, weather permitting. The concrete will need several days to cure and be tested before that road segment can be reopened.
Parking is prohibited on the north side of State Street between First Street and River Lane.
The City project was done at the same time as
IDOT's State Street bridge resurfacing to minimize the inconvenience for motorists and local businesses.
