Here is a recap of recent power outages experienced in Geneva the past week:
Aug. 18
A contractor working on the east side of Geneva accidentally struck an underground cable at 1:55 p.m. Aug. 18 triggering a power outage. Crew members s say they hit a line that was not marked correctly.
The service disruption impacted 85 customers primarily along Geneva Drive, Manchester Course, Britta Lane as well as parts of Westfield Course, Kingston Drive and Whittington Drive.
Geneva's Public Works Department isolated the damaged section of wire and brought 75 customers back online by 2:30 p.m. The remaining 10 customers had service back on by 3:50 p.m.
Aug. 17
A contractor working on the east side of Geneva accidentally struck an underground cable causing a power outage impacting 887 customers at 4:20 p.m. Aug. 17.
The outage area was located within East Side Drive, Division Street, Kirk Road, and East State Street.
Geneva's Public Works Department isolated the damaged area and restored power to:
- 836 customers by 5:37 p.m.
- 45 customers by 5:50 p.m.
- 6 customers by 6:25 p.m.
Aug. 14
About 100 customers lost power at 10:25 a.m. Aug. 14 due to a switching error. Properties that had service disrupted were located at Brentwood Place, Hill Road, Greenfield Circle, Glengarry Drive, Whitfield Drive and Longview Drive. Public Works was able to restore the electricity by 11 a.m.
At 7:08 a.m. that morning, a blown arrestor and fuse sparked an electric outage for one customer in the 1900 block of South Batavia Avenue. Public Works repaired the failed equipment to bring service back online by 8:36 a.m.
