Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

The original item was published from September 2, 2020 4:43 PM to January 1, 2021 12:00 AM

Update - Sept. 10
The South Street culvert crossing pedestrian bridge has been reopened to the public following repairs made earlier this week. Thank you for your patience.

Original Post - Sept. 2
The South Street culvert crossing pedestrian bridge located between Southampton Drive and Burgess Road in Geneva has been closed for repairs.

Barricades were installed this week this week due to warped and uneven wood boards. The City has been in contact with the engineering firm that oversaw construction of the South Street vehicular bridge construction in fall 2019. The company still is developing a timeline to obtain materials to make the repairs.

In the meantime, the pedestrian bridge will remain closed to the public until the repairs have been completed.
