Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] State Street Brick Repair Project Scheduled For October

The original item was published from October 1, 2020 3:33 PM to February 1, 2021 12:00 AM

A City contractor will be repairing sidewalk brick ribbons on State Street (Route 38) in downtown Geneva starting either Thursday or Friday, Oct. 8 and 9.

Crews will be removing and repairing bricks along the sidewalk on both the north and south sides of State Street from Fourth to First streets (Route 31). Work also will include the breezeway between 318 and 322 W. State St. The entire project is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting.

All lanes of State Street traffic will remain open, but some parking spaces may be closed temporarily to accommodate construction equipment.

The contractor is aware of the outdoor seating and will clear operations from those areas before businesses open for the day.
