Power Outage
About 83 Geneva customers lost power at 6:50 p.m. Jan. 27 after an underground cable faulted and a switchgear bushing failed.

Impacted customers were located within the area of Fargo Boulevard, Lewis Road, Highland Road, Clayton Court, Prairie Court and Miller Road. Geneva's Public Works Department crews isolated the bad section of cable and replaced the failed bushing to resolve the outage.

Service was restored to 24 customers by 7:08 p.m. The remaining homes were brought back online in stages between 10:46 p.m. Jan. 27 to 3:20 a.m. Jan. 28.

As a reminder, residents should call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency phone number at 630-232-4736 to report power outages taking place after-hours and on the weekends. Police will dispatch the on-call Public Works Electric Division staff to respond to matter.

FYI, the City's online request tracker and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
