Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable service to our community. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages stemming from bad weather, animals and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's website homepage. Feb. 24-25 - Hill Road & Whitfield Drive Outage

Posted on February 25, 2021 at 3:13 PM by Kevin Stahr

Power Outage
About 17 customers on Geneva's east side lost power or experienced a partial outage at 11:15 p.m. Feb. 24 after an underground cable faulted.

Impacted customers were located near Hill Road and Whitfield Drive. Geneva's Public Works Department crews isolated the bad section of cable and restored service at 3:35 a.m. Feb. 25.

As a reminder, residents should call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency phone number at 630-232-4736 to report power outages taking place after-hours and on the weekends. Police will dispatch the on-call Public Works Electric Division staff to respond to matter.

FYI, the City's online request tracker and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
