Powering Up

Power Restored
Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] Metra To Install Number Signage On Geneva Train Station Platforms

The original item was published from March 23, 2021 3:36 PM to October 1, 2021 12:05 AM

Metra has informed the City of Geneva that the rail agency plans to install platform number signs along the Union Pacific West line, including Geneva, the week of March 29.

For various reasons, Metra has to occasionally implement operational changes that require trains to use the opposite track and station platform for passenger boarding and alighting. To help streamline customer messaging and enhance safety, Metra will be adding the platform signs at stations with more than one platform. Metra provided more info and renderings in a letter to local municipalities.

Union Pacific will be providing flaggers when Metra's contractor, Design Group Signage, will be installing the signs at Geneva's train station.
