The Geneva Public Works Department responded to two small, unrelated power outages Dec. 26.
A squirrel triggered a disruption at 9:02 a.m. impacting seven customers on Third Avenue and Bennett Street (Route 25). City Electric Division crews refused the transformer and reenergized the power line to restore service at 10:02 a.m.
In a separate incident at 3:12 p.m., a broken electric pole cutout resulted in an outage for 16 customers living near Water, Bennett, Howard, and Jefferson streets. Service was restored after the cutout was replaced and the line was reenergized at 3:52 p.m.
As a reminder, residents should call the Geneva Police Department non-emergency phone number at 630-232-4736 to report power outages taking place after-hours, weekends and holidays. The City's online request system and social media channels are not monitored 24 hours a day.
