Geneva experienced a downtown power outage at 12:55 a.m. April 21 after a downed tree fell into a ComEd power line near Bennett Street (Route 25) and Dodson Street.

While the City owns and operates its own electric utility, ComEd has power lines running through Geneva to supply power to the City's electric substations.

The Geneva Poilce Department reported the outage, which impacted 2,022 customers in the downtown to the Fox River and an area north of State Street west of Seventh Street. Geneva Public Works Electric Division crews were able to restore power at 1:37 a.m. by switching service to other substations.

As a reminder, the Public Works Department's regular business hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If an outage occurs after-hours, on weekends or holidays, residents can call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency number at 630-232-4736, and police will dispatch the appropriate on-call Electric Division personnel.

The City's online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
