[ARCHIVED] Geneva Drive - July 24

The original item was published from July 27, 2022 4:54 PM to October 1, 2022 12:05 AM

More than 70 customers lost power due to an underground cable fault July 24 on the City's east side.

The outage occurred at 7:23 p.m. and impacted customers living on Westfield Course, Appleton Lane, Nichole Lane, Chandler Avenue, Geneva Drive, and Division Street.

Geneva Public Works crews switched the customers to another source of power and refused the line. Twelve customers had power restored in 14 minutes. The remaining 50 homes were brought back online in stages between 10 and 11 p.m.

As a reminder, the Public Works Department's regular business hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. If an outage occurs after-hours, on weekends or holidays, residents can call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency number at 630-232-4736, and police will dispatch the appropriate on-call Electric Division personnel.

The City's online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
