Commonwealth Edison will begin relocating utility lines near the Geneva Metra Station and surrounding area starting Monday, Aug. 7.
ComEd's work is in preparation for the future
Union Pacific Third Main Rail Line construction, which is anticipated to start in 2018.
The utility work, which is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, Oct. 4 weather permitting, should have a minimal impact on traffic. A majority of the project will take place outside the roadway and parking lots. Click on the image above to view a larger version of the map.
ComEd's statement:
"Beginning Aug. 7, ComEd will commence a facility relocation project along the west side of Third Street between Route 31 and Metra tracks, as well as on the south side of Route 31 between Third Street and Metra tracks. This project is being performed as part of the Union Pacific Metra 'Kress to Peck - Third Main Track Construction' project, which will add an additional rail line to the existing rail corridor between Peck Road in Geneva and Route 25 in West Chicago.
