Eight customers lost power due to a broken cutout Sept. 19 on the City's east side.
The outage occurred at 4:35 a.m. and impacted customers living along Kane Street.
Geneva Public Works replaced the cutout, which is a combination of a fuse and a switch used in primary overhead feeder lines to protect distribution transformers from current surges and overloads. Service was restored to all customers by 5:55 a.m.
As a reminder, the Public Works Department's regular business hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. If an outage occurs after-hours, on weekends or holidays, residents can call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency number at 630-232-4736, and police will dispatch the appropriate on-call Electric Division personnel.
The City's online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
