The original item was published from September 26, 2022 3:28 PM to December 1, 2022 12:05 AM

A bad section of underground cable resulted in a power outage for 56 customers Sept. 24 on Geneva's west side.

The outage occurred at 6 a.m. and impacted customers living along Fargo Boulevard, Stonewood Glen Drive, Brighton Court, Wood Avenue, Conventry Court, Shoop Circle, and Herrington Road.

Geneva Public Works isolated the faulted cable and brought customers back online in stages ranging between 7:50 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Sept. 24.

As a reminder, the Public Works Department's regular business hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. If an outage occurs after-hours, on weekends or holidays, residents can call the Geneva Police Department's non-emergency number at 630-232-4736, and police will dispatch the appropriate on-call Electric Division personnel.

The City online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
